Quick Baked Falafel Pita "Tacos" with Tahini Dressing
5 mins prepServes 1
A quick and healthy 15-minute dinner featuring baked falafel balls, eliminating unnecessary fats from deep frying. These falafels are high in protein and fiber, served in a whole wheat pita with hummus, fresh veggies, and a homemade tahini dressing.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Place falafel balls on tinfoil on a baking sheet. Once the oven is ready, bake for 8-10 minutes, turning falafels halfway through. While the falafels are baking, spread a thin layer of original hummus on top of a whole wheat pita. Top with your favorite lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and sliced red onions. When the falafels are done, place them on top of the pita and veggies and top with a tahini dressing. To make the tahini dressing, mix 3 tbsp of tahini/sesame paste, 2 tbsp of water, juice from half a lemon, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Adjust the amount of tahini or water based on desired consistency. You can eat these as pictured, like a big pita taco, or cut the pita in half, fill the pockets, and eat it that way.
